RBC Wealth Management appoints new chief commercial officer

RBC Wealth Management has introduced a new chief commercial officer role and appointed William Hepburne-Scott to fill it.

Leadership Changes at RBC Wealth Management

Hepburne-Scott steps into the position from his prior role as managing director and head of the Southern Region. He began his career with the company in 1996 and has remained with the firm for 30 years. He will oversee the delivery of the firm’s commercial plans for European Wealth Management. His responsibilities will include coordinating commercial work with client propositions, regulatory requirements and the firm’s long-term objectives.

Lucie Gordon is set to leave her post as managing director of the Northern Region when December 2026 ends. She became part of RBC Brewin Dolphin in 2014 and assumed her present role in 2023. At the same time, Rod Walley, Robin Mellows and Kevin Jennings will take on broader duties throughout the organisation. Walley will be in charge of the North, Mellows will manage Central, the South West and Wales, while Jennings will look after London and the South East.

These changes coincide with RBC Wealth Management’s push to expand its operations in the UK, Jersey, and the Republic of Ireland. The firm launched a strategic hiring program at the start of this financial year focused on client-facing roles. The initiative aims to bring in more than 70 experienced professionals by the end of 2027.

Managing director Hal Catherwood stated that the appointment signals the firm’s ambition to drive sustainable growth. The firm continues to add advisers who bring deep expertise and a client-focused approach to their work. As Lucie prepares to retire at the end of this year, I’d also like to take the opportunity to thank her for her significant contribution over the past 12 years and wish her well for her retirement.
